A full weekend of Scottish heritage, ethereal opulence, and joyous dancing for Allison & Patrick’s Thirlestane Castle wedding.

Allison & Patrick’s wedding at Thirlestane Castle in Lauder, Scotland was something really special. They flew over from the USA with all their family and friends to celebrate their Scottish heritage, turning the whole weekend into a proper gathering full of love, laughter, and a good dose of magic.

Things began on the Friday evening with a rehearsal dinner in the castle, where the speeches were as heartfelt as they were funny, and the dancing went late into the night. By the time the wedding day rolled around, the atmosphere was already buzzing. Blue skies meant the ceremony could take place outside in the rose garden, surrounded by florals from Platter and Pop. They included a Celtic handfasting and a beautifully personal ceremony led by their celebrant Tim, which set such a warm and meaningful tone for the day.

Afterwards, everyone spilled onto the terrace for cocktails and canapés before being welcomed into the Green Room for the wedding breakfast. The room itself looked like something out of a storybook, dressed in flowers and candlelight again by Platter and Pop. One of my favourite moments was when Allison revealed the portraits she’d secretly commissioned of the two of them — perfectly in keeping with the historic paintings that line the castle walls. Their guests were delighted, and it added such a playful, thoughtful detail to the whole day.

As the evening unfolded, the speeches carried on the laughter, and the dance floor was packed from the first song to the last — with a bit of line dancing to bring that feeling of home across the pond. The whole weekend had this feeling of joy and togetherness running through it, and celebrating it all within the grandeur of Thirlestane Castle made it feel like something out of a fantasy novel. A truly special weekend.
